The money part

How paying for a food order works.

A year of food is a large number if you look at it all at once. Nobody pays it that way, so here is how it actually works.

It starts from what you already spend

Before anything is priced, your Food Planner asks what you currently spend on groceries. The order is built to that number.

That is the whole idea. The food is meant to replace the part of your grocery bill you are already paying, not to sit on top of it. If a plan only works by asking you to find money you do not have, it is the wrong plan and we will say so.

Then you choose how it comes out

Same order, same total. You pick the rhythm that matches how you get paid.

WeeklyThe most common. Small, regular, easy to plan around.
Bi-weeklyLines up with a fortnightly pay cheque.
MonthlyOne payment a month, on a date that suits you.

You can also pay in full, and there is a discount for doing it. Ask your Food Planner what it comes to on your order.

Real weekly payments on our books run from about thirty dollars a week to more than a hundred and fifty. We publish the numbers and the orders behind them in what a year of food costs.

36 months

Your price does not move

From the day you sign, your unit prices are locked for three years, in writing. If you re-order inside that window, you pay what you paid.

Grocery prices are forecast to keep climbing. That is the part of this most people take a minute to believe, so it is on the signed order rather than only on a web page.

If you want to spread it out

Payment plans are arranged through third-party finance partners, on approved credit. Shopease is a retailer, not a lender. The credit decision, the terms and the agreement are theirs.

The application takes a few minutes and you get a decision from them. Your Food Planner follows up either way, and there is more than one partner, so if the first answer is not the one you wanted it is worth asking.

What we never see

Your application goes to the finance partner, not to us. We do not see or store your SIN, your banking details or your credit file. We are told the outcome so we can finish your order.

Nothing is charged before you sign. The consult is free, the plan is free and the quote is free. No payment information is needed to get a price, and the quote is good for 14 days while you think about it.

Common questions

Do I have to finance it?

No. You can pay in full, and there is a discount for doing so. Payment plans exist because most families would rather spread a year of food over the year they eat it.

What if my credit is not perfect?

Ask anyway. We work with more than one finance partner and they do not all look at an application the same way. Your Food Planner will tell you what your options are without you having to guess.

Is Shopease the lender?

No. Shopease Foods is a retailer. Financing is provided by third-party partners on approved credit, and the credit decision, the payment terms and the agreement are theirs. We are told the outcome so we can finalize your order.

What does the 36-month price lock actually cover?

Your unit prices, from the day you sign, for three years. If you re-order inside that window you pay the prices you agreed to, even if food costs have risen since. It is written on the signed order.

Do I need to give payment details to get a quote?

No. A quote needs to know how your family eats and what you spend. Payment details only come up after you have decided to go ahead.

Is HST included in what I am quoted?

Your quote shows the tax as its own line and it is included in the payment figure you are given, so the weekly or monthly number you see is the number that comes out.
